The Crow
With over 2000 submissions from 45 countries  I'm very pleased to have been selected for Honourable mention by the 'Dark Poets Club' for my poem 'The Crow'.
(based on the legend of the Witch of Burslem.)

Publication to follow.

According to legend, Molly Leigh and her pet crow used black magic to bring illness and misfortune to the folk of her Town. Some say she deployed dark arts to make it appear as if the vicar of St John's Church, in Burslem, Pastor Thomas Spencer, had been continually drunk for weeks.
The pastor even saw Molly’s restless ghost in her cottage after her death, and used prayer to exorcise her spirit before exhuming her body, flinging her still living bird inside the coffin, and re-interring her in the opposite direction. But if she was such a wicked witch, who terrorised the good people of Burslem even from beyond the grave, then why did she leave money for the poor in her last will and testament? It seems she fell prey to a centuries-old smear campaign.
